Use Embedded Companies House API Key
Reg.Direct includes an embedded Companies House API key. This shared API key unlocks limited features in Reg.Direct.
The embedded, Limited Feature Key does not permit bulk updates or scheduled synchronisations with Companies House data.
To enable the Limited Feature Companies House API key, from the Settings page, move to slider to active. Otherwise, follow the steps below to create your own, fully-featured Companies House API Key.
Configure Your Own Companies House API Key
The steps to create the Companies House API key are accurate as of November 2024
- Create an account (if necessary) and log into the Companies House developer hub (https://developer.company-information.service.gov.uk/)
- Add a new Application (https://developer.company-information.service.gov.uk/manage-applications/add) with the following suggested names
- Name: Salesforce
- Description: Connections to Salesforce
- Environment: Live
- After adding the new Application, click on the application name from the View all applications screen (https://developer.company-information.service.gov.uk/manage-applications)
- Then press the create new key button to create a new key
- Key Name: Reg.Direct
- Key Description: Reg.Direct integration
- API client key: REST
- Restricted IPs: Leave this box empty
- Javascript domains: Leave this box empty
- After creating the new key, copy the API key from the application page (it will look something like this: 123abc4d-9394-457a-a9e3-b797f5532d42) and paste it into the API Key settings page in Reg.Direct.
